Alvington Play Space, Yeovil
We were approached by the developer of Alvington Place, near Yeovil, earlier in 2011. The scheme had been designed by a local landscape architect and our brief was to select equipment that would complement the site.
Surrounded by open space and countryside, we felt that this rural location would be enhanced by timber equipment and therefore used the wooden Wacky Play House as the centre of this design. This is complemented by the wooden framed Bird’s Nest Swing, the gently curved seating unit and the wooden sail boat – a perfect place for make-believe. The rubber toadstool stepping stones add colour and a sense of movement and the use of grass matt safety surfacing retains the natural feel of grass. The site is surrounded by steel bow-top fencing to deter unwanted animals and keep toddlers safe. This whole project was supplied and installed within the allocated budget and these photos were taken just 2 months after installation.
